meet Kate

You can read about my professional background here. It’s dry and straight-forward. I appreciate knowing the qualifications of people I study with or purchase services from and thought maybe you would too. Sometimes I wonder, though, are they real?

Are you wondering about me?

I am real, as in down-to-Earth, flawed, sometimes anxious, usually optimistic, quiet in new settings, and really chatty when I’m nervous or lonely. In particular situations, I describe myself as a person living in long-term recovery from drug and alcohol addiction and a trauma survivor.

While these experiences have formed how I look at and live in the world, they aren’t me. It’s taken years of effort to create distance between my experiences and my identity. In all honesty, it’s an ongoing process that you can read about in blog posts. They’re my way of offering up realness and vulnerability. Maybe some story, struggle, or observation will resonate with you. Maybe we’ll have a moment of connection. Maybe we chat about it, exchange emails, or keep it to ourselves. Either way, we’ve both shown up and created a bit of community.
